Sorry Dodger Fans

I have been making some coasters with this design. They turn out well, but I have a question. The other coaster (not pictured here) we’re made on a different bamboo blank. They are just plain bamboo. I just got these (the one pictured) but I noticed that they have a clear coat of some sort on them. Question is…are there any types of clear coat I should not be putting under a laser? This is the only one I did with that coaster blank. I didn’t smell anything unusual. Just the normal smell of burning bamboo. I did notice, however, that there were more sparks. Just looking for opinions.

I personally wouldn’t worry about it as long as it’s well vented.

Agreed. In fact I would get a can of Polycrylic Spray and coat all of the blanks. It really helps with clean up later too.

Generally the issue with coatings is when they’re wet they’re flammable, so dry you’re likely good.
