State of NH outline

I just bought a pro for my classroom and can’t figure out why it doesn’t ‘see’ the artwork. I can get the machine to recognize artwork when I use a Glowforge design so I’m hoping someone can point me in the direction of finding a State of NH outline in the catalog. I’ve searched to no avail.

Welcome to the forum.

What artwork does the Glowforge not “see”? Did you get the “no artwork” message? Can you share a screenshot of the interface?

I don’t think there is an outline of the state of New Hampshire in the catalog, but I am sure such a file exists. In fact, if you have the premium subscription trial, simply click the add art button and search New Hampshire.

Have you worked through the Glowforge tutorials?

I am attaching a file for your use if you can’t find one.

It can also be if the artwork isn’t fully enclosed within the available printing bounds it’ll say no artwork.

Thanks,

This is the artwork I was using and getting the ‘no artwork’ message. I am so new to Glowforge that finding the info I need is like searching for a needle in a haystack.

As @wesleyjames said, if the artwork isn’t inside the boundary areas, it will say ‘no artwork’. If your attached image is a jpeg, it will only engrave anyway…not cut. To be able to cut out images, they need to either be vectors or at least have a vector cutting line around them.

The item you attached is a jpg which the Glowforge will engrave but not cut. There are two types of files - raster and vector. To cut/score, you need vectors.

Not only that, but even if it was cut, the 'H" and dot on the “i” would just drop away, and the lines joining the letter in the rest of the text would be impossibly thin. The resulting part would be unable to support its own weight.

If you have Premium, you can generate a vector cut line using the Outline function (the icon looks like a mountain). It’s possible your artwork is too tall and part of it isn’t fitting within the engravable/cuttable area, which would generate the No Artwork message. Try rotating the design 90 degrees. You can also get that message if you have not yet chosen a material and set the parameters for the operation (cut, engrave, or score).
