Steampunk lantern

I mentioned in another post that my family recently attended a steampunk themed wedding. I wanted something cool to hang on my belt and was inspired by the steampunk lanterns at Harlots & Angels (https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/Harlotsandangels?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=659427483)

I used https://makeabox.io/ to make the tabbed box out of proofgrade maple ply. I cut a circle out of the back that was just slightly larger than the LED light I put inside. I cut chipboard ovals to use as stops to keep the back in place. The front panel was cut out of proofgrade maple veneer. I sandwiched two layers of vellum between that and the box. The handle on top is a strip of leather.

Inside the box I layered 4 pieces of eva foam to keep the LED from sliding around. I eventually placed the LED backwards because it was too bright facing forward. You could see the individual lights. It is operated via a remote control. I can set it to a single colour or have it cycle through several.
