Stuck in scan mode

When i turn my machine on, I do not get any of the normal centering of focusing movement from the laser head. I have tried several of the troubleshooting options, I have found on the forum: cleaned the lens/mirrors, restarted, unplugged and restarted, loaded a different design, moved the head to the center(below the cameras). *Done.
I have also turned everything off *pro and laptop and rebooted internet. Also, re-setup wifi to glowf. The machine seems to be connected however, once I am back in dashboard ready to print. The system is stuck on scan mode and the image has not refreshed from the bed. I just purchased this machine and it’s my third time using it. Everything was working fine until last night. HELP! TIA!

Might want to also check your lid cable connections…

  • Turn off the unit.
  • Carefully remove the printer head by pulling gently up and back to disengage the magnets and remove it.
  • Check the connection on the white ribbon cable in the laser arm. Make sure it is fully inserted into the printer head, until it has clicked into place and that the pins are in good shape.
  • Check all of the ribbon cable connections in the lid. The connectors need to be fully closed.
  1. Turn off your unit.
  2. Open the lid.
  3. Using both hands, gently roll the laser arm to the front of the unit.
  4. There are 5 clips pictured below. Check each one to ensure it is closed. The clip should lie flat, and you shouldn’t be able to flip it in any direction. Check that the cable is not kinked or bent where it passes over the metal lip at the green arrow shown.

lidcablecheck

  1. If any of the clips are open, ensure the cable is inserted straight into the clip and close the clip.
  2. If any of the cables are misaligned in the clip, take a photo of the clip and cable and send it to Support before you proceed.

Do NOT try to adjust or reseat the cable without the okay from Support.
You can :fire: the electronics.

  1. If all the clips are aligned and closed…close the lid.

Let Support know the results of the inspections and they will let you know the next steps after they have reviewed your logs.

This is a new machine that has been turned on 3 times.

Everything in in tact. This is a brand new machine that has been turned on 3 times. It worked great until this. The screen is still showing scanning.

I’m so sorry for the trouble with your new Glowforge! I see you already emailed us about this and I just followed up there, so I’m going to close this topic. I’m happy to keep troubleshooting with you via email.
