Double masking has prevented burn marks for me. that is why I do it.
you must be really overpowering your cuts and burning masking if one layer of masking isn’t enough.

what would you recommend I do?
i suggest more testing of your settings with a single layer of masking. either less power or more speed until it just cuts through. the only time i ever have issues with my single layer is when it doesn’t adhere properly. i’ve never needed a second layer (and i haven’t heard of double masking from anyone else).
