My mother has always had time for a cup of tea and good book.
I received the bare Bigelow tea chest from a friend and I thought; with a little work this could be nice.
Engraving away the varnish to make room for the Maple veneer.
Took 5 passes until I was happy with the depth. I wanted the veneer to be inset but not flush.
The top liner is faux leather run at 500line 1000/20 to get the silvery effect.
Looks amazing. The alignment looks spot on. I’m always nervous about getting things lined up properly without the crumb tray in.

I though exposing the wood by engraving away the varnish looked great, but applying veneer just took it to a whole new level @guyverchaz, and the inside inscription is inspiring.
