The Grid Game

Has anyone here bought / played / seen The Grid Game? (http://thegridgame.co)

I have a question about it, if so!

ooh I want one now

I’m thinking of trying to replicate it using my GF. What I’m trying to figure out is whether the pieces are two-sided, in the sense that you can play either side. I know the colors show on both sides, but I think one side is flat and the other isn’t, which defines which goes “up.” It would be nice if I could verify this before trying to make my own…

Figuring out the height differences between pieces will be difficult too. It looks like some edges are a different height.

As far as I could see, the even have different angles on the “top”-side.

hmm, the parallelograms shouldn’t be to big to put them in the Glowforge on their sides. this way they could be cut in an angle too. wonder how “thick” the tiles are.

After thinking about it for a while, I don’t think the height variance is necessary, although it does add some cool factor to how the game looks. For game play you have to match solid color to solid color, seam to seam – the height is a visual indicator for how the pieces are allowed to match up, but not the ONLY indicator.

I think only one side is playable, so my plan is to make mine a solid color (black) on the backside. I was just trying to confirm my findings before getting started.

True, but nothing a 3D gradient (.bmp) can’t fix
