This is so simple, I'm ashamed to admit it

I’ve been churning out a fairly complex design using masked materials, and was frankly getting pretty irritated at how long it takes to remove the masking.

So I started to simply stack up the cut parts on an oil-filled radiator I have in my living room, to bump up the temp without blasting the HFAC (I keep it set to sixty…)

Oh. My. Gosh. The masking peels off like it’s nothing! What a difference!

You’re welcome. Or feel free to say, I was an idiot for not doing this sooner!

That’s slick.

Or perhaps slippery

so maybe a hair dryer might work even faster and you could just fill a bin with small pieces and quickly heat them up.

On a sunny day I like to put masked pieces outside for a couple min. Sometimes they peel themselves.

Many ways. But the radiator is right here and on all winter long, so…

You can blast them with a heat gun too

Do you have the masking up or down on the radiator?

Masking is on both sides, the entire stack of parts heats up to around 110ºF (I have an IR thermometer) and I just take them off one at a time - because they cool down quickly…

Fantastic idea! I hate peeling those!

Oh, now I have to try the hair drier trick. “Honey, I need to borrow something!”

Last time I said this, was to stoke the fire in the charcoal BBQ grill and ended up having to buy a new one for her because of the smoke stink that infused her old one. :joy:

So now it became my dedicated hair dryer for my projects. :man_shrugging:t4:

I had a curling iron like that for a long time. It was declared unusable after I curled some stuffie fur with it :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey, if I used a blow dryer infused with BBQ smells, my husband would find my hair insatiably attractive haha. But yes, we do have a dedicated crafting blow dryer now after I made the mistake of letting a maintenance guy use it to wrap up drying a bathroom repair project & it was not returned in the state it was given lol

A YouTube instructor I just found today said in her Glowforge beginner video that she uses Gorilla Tape to take off the masking. In her video it seemed to work very well.

Welcome to the forum.

Gorilla tape is one of the favored tools for weeding - as are plastic razor blades.

Those have been my go-tos for years. :+1:
