Tips for seeing dark items on the bed

Two things I do to better see dark items on the bed:
For black acrylic, use masking paper (doh!) but when I don’t, a bit of white grease pencil/china marker on the edges is useful.
Or…
Refresh bed image menu command while shining a flashlight through the cover.

Great tips!

It’s a good idea to have something light colored on the surface of your black acrylic because dark materials can affect the glowforge’s ability to focus on the surface. I will sometimes put a square of white tape in the corner so I can use set focus on it.

Oh, that kind of ‘bed’. I am at fault for putting an acrylic thing on my bed for a moment, losing track of it, and then sitting on it…crack!

I would also suggest avoid using materials that have any large voids if possible. This can confuse the lid camera as it tries to locate the position of the printer head. You can test that by removing the material and then trying again in the event of that occurring.

I sometime put a white piece of paper behind it if it’s not a full sheet to be able to see the edges. Otherwise masking tape.
