Too big file to engrave

I am trying to print this fileBateau%20%C3%A0%20th%C3%A9%20couvercle

Where the green part is to be engraved. but when I try to process it throught the machine for a print, it says it is too big. Where or how should I cut to solve this?

This is almost always because the job exceeds the onboard storage, which will hold a job about 3.5 hours long.

You can do the engrave and then the cuts to reduce the job time.

You can make it smaller.

You can change the engrave settings. LPI is the biggest factor in engrave time, typically.

It loads fine for me with the engraving set to 1000 speed and 225 LPI

and at 450 LPI, but it would take almost twice as long

and even at 675, but thats getting towards the limit (which I thought was 3 hours)

at 1355 LPI I see the “Print Size” warning popup.

I haven’t loaded it, but should be able to rotate 90 and reduce the time even further.

I kept it that way for material usage. But true.

I think I know why, I used the standard setting : HD engrave which is way too intense for a simple shape like this.

I’m glad you resolved it! I’m going to close this thread. If you run into any other trouble, please start a new topic, or email us at support@glowforge.com. We’re here to help!
