The tiny “set focus” box that is half an inch away from my cursor is confusing. Do you believe the box, or the cursor? (The answer, which I learned the hard way, is the box.)

Agreed.
Also, PLEASE tell us the ability to see what the focus is set to is in the hopper. Just make it a tooltip-like label next to the focus box.

Looks like you forgot the tooltip for the “create Outline” button.
