Travertine and patent drawings

Been having fun with 4” travertine tiles found at our local ReStore for 20 cents each. Fun for us good for Habitat. Also found some edge pieces of tile tried a file I didn’t realize had some little artifacts in the white portions but as a test it looks cool.

Masked the travertine with blue tape, then used alcohol ink to color. Used a sharpie on the tile with the mountain.

The black tile I put the alcohol ink on then lasered.

Really Nice! Want to work with travertine soon.

Keep an eye out to see if the ink discolors after awhile. I’ve had some travertine tiles discolor as the limestone effluoresces whitening the coloring I’ve laid on. I haven’t done a ton of research into which inks/paints/etc I used & saw it discolor and which ones seem to stay pristine but it’s on my to-do list so I can avoid whatever it is I used. Might happen to yours too so here’s a heads up to keep an eye on it.

I was wondering if it would. I did some of these a couple of weeks ago, the black one I did on Saturday. I’m curious what will happen with time. I wouldn’t mind if the black one faded a bit.
