Someone please help! My GF tube isn’t lighting up. No engraving, cutting or scoring. Cleaned the whole machine, lenses etc. nothing seems out of the ordinary. Wont focus, wont really home, just keeps tweaking movements trying to focus the head over and over. Thinking my tube needs replaced? anyone have experience with this?
I know you’ve done the main troubleshooting on the help page from the discord conversation, so…
It can be caused by a few things, you will likely be faced with two major options: Send the machine to glowforge for a refurb or attempt to fix it via wiregrass tech or yourself.
Wiregrass is likely to be less expensive, they have kits that can fix this in many machines. I’d reach out to them.
If the tube does not fire when printing the gift of good measure, then either the tube has expired or the power supply has failed.
The other things you mention, however, appear to point to a failure of some sort on the main control board - which is essentially a computer. It runs on Linux. So that could be the root cause.
Regardless, the tube has a limited lifespan, and the power supply appears to be engineered to last about that same duration. So sending it in for repair, or replacement, are the only practical solutions.
There’s also a pretty common problem with short circuiting on the red power wire. Wiregrass can help you determine if you may be a candidate to fix it yourself.
