un-"Happy Accident" fixed with :glowforge:

We are currently gathering school supplies to drop off later today.
My son is a big fan of Bob Ross, however not a big fan of potentially offending others.
A fix with a sharpie was proposed and shot down.
Glowforge saved the day!

After one light pass.

The final was 3 passes at super low strength. No holes!

Interesting solution!

A quick point of interest: the name Indian Yellow refers to India; it was used heavily in the Mughal Empire. It’s not a slur on Native Americans. But your son’s concern is commendable and appreciated. :slightly_smiling_face:

We asked Alexa, and the answer was different so we went with it.
Good to know! Thanks.

I was curious so I googled… learned something I could have lived without knowing. LOL

Indian yellow pigment is claimed to have been originally manufactured in rural India from the urine of cattle fed only on mango leaves and water . The urine would be collected and dried, producing foul-smelling hard dirty yellow balls of the raw pigment, called “purree”.

There are some fascinating stories behind a lot of paints and pigments. A fair number of the reels from Jackson’s Art Supplies on Instagram go into the histories of pigments, in case anyone else is interested:

Not as bad as the most expensive organic color made of rotting sea slugs. Many organic colors were made by processes that you would not want to have a neighbor involved with.
