United States With State Of Texas Plaque

Cut this very nice United States with the State of Texas. I used 1/4" Walnut Plywood, 1/4" Maple Plywood & 1/4" Mahogany Plywood. All wood is Columbia Forest Products PureBond from Home Depot. Pattern design is from Alex Fox On Etsy.

Nice piece of state pride there.
I recently learned Texas was an independent nation after the state declared its independence from Mexico. The “Six Flags” term arises from the fact that 6 flags have flown over the state; Spain, France, the Republic of Texas, the United States, and the Confederacy.

I believe it’s the only state that retained the right to secede from the union in its Constitution after the Civil War.

My understanding is the 1845 annexation agreement allows for the state to split into up to 5 states, but there is no provision in it for secession. - “One nation, indivisible…”

I’ve been wrong before… :upside_down_face:
