One thing about bookshelves is that they are not moved about much, and usually have dead space at the bottom and back. They sell a powdered Boric acid that is very bad news for insects and their relatives, As a precautionary measure I have made it a habit to provide a liberal amount of boric acid where the bookshelves will be as you will not be uncovering that space for a considerable time and anything that can wander in there, even years from now will regret doing so.
