You have opened a duplicate ticket by posting here in addition to emailing support. I believe your problem has to do with the belts. Since this happened after cleaning, perhaps you did not reassemble correctly or you inadvertently changed the belt tension.
Could you possibly tell me what I should look for or “test”?

I’d like to take a look at an image of a component from the inside of your Glowforge. When you have a moment, could you please review the instructions for removing the Carriage Plate from the bottom of your Laser Arm here, and send over a photo similar to the one below?
Once we can review this image, we’ll send over the next best steps.
