Went back to basic GF troubleshooting, found some bits o’ stuff in the lip for the cover, so thought, since the camera is mounted there, that might be an issue (although you would think that would be consistent), then I cleaned the camera lens with the normal wipes, (that fixed the set focus feature although I had manually set the material height with my mitutoyo so you know that’s accuarate to 0.0001”. So post cut I removed the blank, and had the previous cut and painted one, it fits perfectly back in the hole like the new cut I just finished, but the holes and the file are misaligned now (now vertically). But the cuts are perfect per my micrometer so not like skipping steps or something otherwise that would be refleceted in the dimensions. I can align visually and see if that is some weird software thing, but that is very frustrating. I watched the entire job very closely and at no time was the head bumped (unlike @dan I don’t leave my coffee mug inside my laser! mostly because I do not risk coffee under any circumstances!)
GRRRR… The image was wrong it was actually aligned so when I visually aligned it, it of course was now vertically wrong (luckily I can probably patch that out and reengrave it). I feel like we are almost back in PRU days with the basics slipping for gizmos like AI image generation (things like alignment, image de-warp, etc)
Ahh…. i would not have guessed that it was that fast of an engrave!
Well you’re just removing the paint
Can’t even see where I patched the misengrave! Which is what you get with high quality color matched automotive paint.
That turned out great in the end! Very sharp looking.
But, I lost track during the whole thread as to the final alignment problem. The first problem was the differing margins for cut vs engrave, so you repositioned into the middle. Was the misalignment of 0.75mm a visual alignment issue?
That is strange, however that being said…I did a cut on 1/8 MDF board and realized maybe it did not cut thru…me guessing, so I ran a second cut, mind you did not move or open the GF and it did a second cut completely misaligned, that has never ever happened since owning the GF.
