Had a carnivale wedding commission that I recently finished. I almost pulled my face off dealing with pass through issues but I got it finished and that’s what matters. Had so much fun making this piece!
Really good design. The finish is so cool. Quite a lot going on there.
Thanks. I had to rework the living hinge a few times but it was worth it. I’m pretty pleased with the final sign. I had the best time painting it. The look on my their faces when I gave it to them last night was worth every ounce of any frustration.
It’s going to be a pretty amazing wedding. They’re going to have carnival games and food. I also made them wooden nickels for the guests to use for the games. This sign is going to be hung on a tent that people will enter if they want to get tattooed at the reception.
I’ve never been artistic enough to apply a finish like that. Awesome.
Painting is one of my favorite things so I was excited to do this piece. Lots and lots of layers to get the distressed metal? look. Now my son wants one for his room.
So cool!!
That came out fantastic, I bet they were thrilled!
Great result! Your son is not the only one that is going to want a sign similar to this. Wait 'til the wedding guests start asking for your business card.
Exceptional finish!
Amazing! How did you get that awesome weathered look?
Wedding tattoos! I haven’t heard of that one yet.
Great job! That sounds like it’s going to be one fun wedding! Who’d have thought of tattoos at a wedding?! Well obviously they did! And now that you have the kinks worked out on making the sign, the one for your son’s room will be nothing but a thing (and time) for you!
This is sooo cool.
It has inspired me for some decorations for an upcoming birthday party
That turned out amazing! Your paint job is spectacular!!
Just different layers of paint.
Love the aging look you achieved. Amazing project!
Thanks. I am normally insanely critical of any pieces I make. I probably could’ve spent more time on the painting because I never feel I’m finished, but I was rather pleased with how this turned out.
When I saw the first photo, the lights and colors gave it a pinball vibe. It had that old-time arcade look, but I realized that it was actually an awesome sign. Either way, I appreciate you sharing it with everyone.
What did you use the living hinge for? Is the yellow & black border a hinged overlay piece?
The sign itself is about 3-4” tall. I housed the cables for the lights inside so it was just nice and tidy. It looks like an oldschool sign that would’ve been above a diner etc. I’ll take another picture so you can see the living hinge bit.
Yes! That’s kind of what I was going for. That pinball weathered metal sign days of old sort of feel? I’m pretty happy with it. Of course I always think that there is room for improvement.
