If you could get any laser in the world right now, money is not an object, what would you get?
Anywhere from small to large. I’m curious to see how crazy we can get with this.
I think a fiber laser in the megawatt range.
I don’t know, but with those conditions I can promise you it’s something I’m not aware of at this moment. I’d researched the living daylights out of it and get something really nice and industrial. Probably a fiber laser of some type. Maybe a Rotary axis for cutting pipe? You would have to have a really big bed, of course.
This - the ability to cut metal would be very cool - of course the research that @markevans36301’s talks about would answer questions like, “Can you turn it down enough to do soft materials or is it only for crazy hard ones?”
Yes, I’m attached to being able to deliver power in small increments.
has spoiled me for switching between literal paper and 1/2" thick wood
Easy, I’d get one of those Space Lasers.
I mean, it would be really cool to ‘engrave’ giant designs into corn fields. Oh, wait. I guess the downside is, you’d have to ask everyone on half the planet to put on goggles before you turned it on. I’m out…
Something very cool…and powerful…and easy…and cool…and cool
No Mr bond, I expect you to die.
Best laugh of the day. Thank you for that!
Look at the facts: very high power, portable, limited firing time, unlimited range. All you’d need is a big spinning mirror and you could vaporize a human target from space.
I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, “… I drank what?”
Probably Trotec since they have a wide range and offer sales and service on my side of the border.
Beat me to it!!!
Love that movie!
I’d get a Trotec Flexx laser. While I’m at it, I’d like something similar to a Wazer also, for cutting metal.
