So I made this for my son, from the GF freebie files (I think?)…but the one thing missing was a knob/pull mechanism to open it.
I have 3 boys, & am ALWAYS in a hurry…so I had to come up with something super quick before school in the morning.
Went in my drawer, found a picture hanger…then looked in my scrap pile, grabbed the first square piece I saw, and it was the EXACT SIZE/dimensions to cover the brass! #winning#whataretheodds
(And his friends think it’s pretty cool #doublewin)
Oh nice! That’s the one from the catalog. My husband needed a quick gift for a bunch of clients the night before a meeting and he had me cut a bunch of those.
Looked a little different for a sec because I notice you didn’t glue the semi-circles into the score lines for the insides. It is probably a lot easier to open and close that way though. With the semi-circles in place, it’s a bit tight. We had to tie string through the holes in order to get them to open after closing them because it was so hard to pull apart again.
Yes, it was almost impossible to open! I also rubbed a little Aquafor into the joints and it made it SO much better! I’m sure there’s some fancy wood wax product one can use, but I just used what I had on-hand!
Would love to see yours. I haven’t even done a full search, but I see someone posted an awesome Naruto one with a slide cover (different design)
You’ll find you take more time organizing your scraps than your full sheets. It’s weird, having a limited piece of material gets my ideas going more than a full sheet does. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
