I have been making S-Hooks with clear acrylic for weeks and now GF has run out had to move on to white PG acrylic - however it is not cutting all the way through.
I Have:
Cleaned the camera lens
Cleaned all windows and laser lens
I have thousands more to make today and currently, it is taking me forever to snap them out of their shells after cutting.
I quick fix that I do sometimes is slow the cut by 10-15 zooms. It doesn’t fix your underlying problem. Also did you clean the laser lens on the left gantry?
I’m so sorry to hear that you’re hitting this snag! I’m glad the suggestion @ellingtonmd provided helped to improve your projects for the time being.
However, I’d like to make sure your Glowforge always performs correctly with Proofgrade material. I would like to check over just a few more things. Could you do the following for me?
Please send photos of all your cleaned optical components, with special attention to any damage you might find:
Both windows
The printer head window, on the left hand side of the printer head
The laser window on the inside left of the Glowforge
I noticed that you marked my colleague Marc’s post as having solved the topic of this thread. Did you notice something about your optics which you were able to correct when you were taking photos of them?
I am glad things worked out for you. You perseverance is noble indeed for the task at hand. Take your time and take care of the machine. It is surely an excellent tool for many of us. I enjoy trying to help others in the forum when I can. I’m not the best, that’s for sure. However, working in IT for the past 25 years has taught me patience.
That is fantastic! I’m so glad to hear that everything appears to be working properly. I’ll close this thread for now, but please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly at support@glowforge.com if you run into any more trouble. We’re here to help!
