Does Gopro use a proprietary mount? Or a standard camera mount? I haven’t looked at these closely enough to determine what they use.

Proprietary, though they are pretty well ripped off on the Chinese market for cheap. There is a small adapter to fit a standard camera tripod.

Yep. The mounts that @jbv has shown also come with adapters for the standard tripod screw hole.
