I need help my machine making loud fan sounds :pensive: should I buy new small fan behind the printer head?

That fan can get really gunked up. I’d try cleaning it first. Soaking it in hand sanitizer gel and brushing with an old toothbrush will likely get it back to new. @rbtdanforth has a number of posts on using that to clean the fan.

Clean your lenses/optics OFTEN. Especially with materials containing draftboard/MDF. I do the majority of my cuts on draftboard, unless it absolutely must look finished. And I clean my left side lens, the lenses on the side and bottom of the print head, and the mirror inside the print head probably every 5 prints or more. If you go too long, you start to not cut all the way through.

I’ll counter with “avoid MDF”. Baltic birch is my go to and requires far less cleanup. I can’t quantify it but I feel like the reduction in maintenance and overall wear and tear from grime buildup outweighs the price differential.

For example: I’ve never cleaned an air assist fan. It just isn’t junked up.
