Finished an experiment on a 12-inch tile. I purchase a box from ReStore for only $7.
Nice. Care to elaborate on the ‘experiment’?
I have been trying different inks, colors of inks, and types of images.
Cool! Plan on framing it, or…?
Yes, I want to do a series of 3. All different.
This turned out great!
I found that the ones I filled with Sharpie faded quite a bit over the years (being used as trivets) - are you sealing yours in any way, or just dealing with the fade?
You could always re-ink them. I asked because I wondered if you used that white paint method. My experience with that shows really good results. I think it is the titanium oxide that reacts to the laser and leaves a hard oxide deposit that is all but permanent.
This turned out great, very intricate design, it looks awesome on the tile.
The covid thing has prevented me from returning there to pick up tiles as they apparently get the excess from commercial use donated so have had a lot and big variety but I have not done so yet.
Thanks for the question.
I have archival ink that I want to test. Sometimes I like the fade. It gives a softness to the hard surface,
I have not but I can see I need to try that.
Thanks
Norton white tile method. It is extremely durable. You can’t damage it with a metal scraper.
It is. A metal tool just burnishes it!
