Naw I’m not one of those guys that drives around with the stereo pounding constantly. Maybe giving demos at car shows or competitions, sanctioned events, just sporadic use, but not for every day driving.
What I have right now is plenty… and I don’t have physical space for more anyway LOL. … at least not until I get my hands on an air conditioning system and can see if I have any room left after that… gotta have A/C before next summer.
Yeah, those guys are annoying. And possibly deaf or soon-to-be deaf.
I like driving custom vehicles and as such, they’re beacons for Johnny Law. Don’t need to be driving around with a stereo blaring and trying to catch more attention.
This has always cracked me up a little: A lot of folks put a really big subwoofer in a small car, ‘for better bass’. A 60hz sound wave is like 19’ long… so sitting inside a small car, you miss out. Next to that car in traffic, you hear the whole sound.
If someone really wants to experience the beastly bass from their car stereo, they need to drive a suburban with subs mounted all the way in back.
Smaller vehicles exhibit what’s called cabin gain. It takes less power and less hardware to get a certain sound pressure level in a smaller vehicle, than it would take to get the same level in a larger vehicle. Or, using identical equipment and comparing between a Suburban and a Civic, the Civic will have the higher SPL inside.
One of the top world record holders is a Honda CR-X.
