Board games and inserts

So amazon is having 30%+ off a bunch of board games as a daily deal today (amazon links are affiliate). I know that the gamer/tinkerer communities tend to have some overlap so thought I’d let yall know.

Some of these are really ripe for laser cut organization/upgrading of tokens and whatnot. I picked up Twilight Imperium 4th edition and am planning on making something similar to this one (that was made for 3rd edition). https://imgur.com/a/BcxBv

Scrabble for Charity

[GF-Scrabble-10] I was asked to make a Scrabble board for an upcoming charity auction for a local literacy council. I used Cherry plywood from Owyn’s for the board, and Hickory (Pecan) Ply for the tiles. I used oil based Sharpie pens to color in the board, and used a little mineral oil to bring out the wood grain. Basic Game Board Box With Drawers

This is the box design I came up with for creating my Seega Game Sets. This file has a solid top, whereas for the Seega games I chopped it up into a frame with inner squares to be inlayed in different woods. The Royal Game of Ur

So I’m still learning this, so my joinery is non existent unless its a box shape. So weirder complex shape like this, I went with stacked layers. I’m planning on sanding down the stacked layers to make them more even, and a lot nicer to look at. [Ur] I’m going to be adding an end cap to the side, and attach it to the drawer. Since right now it slides in well, but is hard to get back out.

Catan board so far!

Nothing officially new here. Mostly leveraging the designs shared by glowforge team and components from this Reddit post: Reddit - Dive into anything Very excited with how it’s shaping up so far! Catan Tiles & Storage box

This has been a work in progress that has taken longer than expected primarily due to life Took me a little while to get the hang of fusion 360 to design the box and the foam inserts, but got that done nicely parametric. Requisite Catan Board

I think the Catan posts are plentiful enough to merit their own category at this point…nevertheless, here is one more. [image][image] The desert, numbers, and edge pieces are PG basswood; the rest were cut from colored birch from The Wood Gallery. The “robber” is PG walnut sandwiched in PG basswood. I did some fiddling with the files, so most of the pieces aren’t engraved/etched exactly as laid out in the original Glowforge version. The towns, settlements, and roads are cut from PG acrylic.…

Chess Set for Gkid

Last year Gkid and I made a checkers set for her (Checkers for Gkid). Since then, she’s learned to play chess.
