Can we use 3M masking tape

Hi, I was wondering if we can use 3M masking tape, and is it safe to use?

3M makes 48 different masking tape products, but in general, yes, they can be used.

Not very practical, however, unless you are printing very narrow designs. Also far more expensive than using actual masking paper on 12" rolls or similar.

I don’t have big roll yet. Going to order some big ones until then I guess will use 3M.
Thank you for the info.

I use 3M blue painters tape all the time. No issues and great for small stuff. Agreed that for bigger sheets the large rolls are better, but the blue stuff works great.

Watch your overlap, the difference between one and two layers of masking tape can throw off an engrave causing different amounts of material being removed.

3M premasking tape is a great option. This is the SCPM-3, in a 24" width.

Thank you all.

I use the 4" all the time. Getting good at butting up the edges when I engrave. And if I am just cutting I overlap about 1/16" Never had an issue.
