Wanted to make this for my cousin but it seems impossible for a glowforge. Can this be done on a glowforge? Wood 1/2 thick.
with a glowforge pro, I think
why not slightly thinner wood with multiple passes at a higher power
you can always cut two thinner, glue them and make one thicker!

That kind of work is typically done on a CNC machine.
You could do multiple layers of really thin wood and glue it up, but agreed that that’s done on a CNC.
Sometimes you have to reimagine things for the tool you are working with. This would look very nice done as layers and there are a lot of examples here on the forums.
Just 3 layers of wood and you could pull this off fairly well. I would try that and hand sand the couple links of chain where they transition from the top of the left fluke down to the level of the first layer.
Yes - absolutely, but it will take a lot of time, as others have said, you may do better with a layered design (then you could use different colours of wood too!)
but yes, I’ve done one item an inch thick just to make sure I could
