They will leave the licensing model for version 2 of their product as it is. We’ll see how quickly they announce version 3 with a new licensing model and, stop updating version 2.

I didn’t always used to be so cynical about these things, but I’ve never seen an acquisition that hasn’t resulted in the acquiree eventually being destroyed.

I believe they usually start off with good intentions, but when circumstances change, a pledge isn’t worth the pixels it’s printed on.

The best argument I have heard for using open source software. Enough folk using it provides the force to keep it alive, and the number who have the programming smarts that also use the software provides the means to stay up to the need. The need to assist those just starting has been an issue but that too is being addressed.
