But they don’t really care about the commercial enterprise, they just want him to stop. So it is just an excuse to harass.
Yes, but I was trying to knock one more leg out from under their argument. HOAs are notorious for this type of behavior and I really hate that my situation has one.
There’s good reason HOA is at the top of the list of filters on Zillow.
zillow?
At least my landlord is 100% with me and will defend me.

I was wondering is there any way to make it less visible from the ground? like mount the vent on a piece of clear acrylic instead of a board? Might make them think it has been removed.
For insulation purpose this winter it was mounted on a 3in insulation board, not much choice about colour (light green in this case). This summer, I simply put the exhaust out when it is used pull it back in when not. so not much visual disturbance
I was also going to suggest something along the lines of what @primal_healer said.
Also, are you leaving the vent up at all times? If yes, I know it’s a pain, but only having it up when you are actually printing could be helpful.
This is what I've had to do:
I live in a townhome, and the only option for me to vent is through our patio doors, which we just replaced a couple of weeks ago. I don’t have my permanent version completed yet, but I have a temporary set up right now. We used a large piece of a foam sheet to make a strip the height of the patio door. Then it has a hole for the vent hose. I attached the vent hose to a POWERTEC O.D. Splice, 4-Inch (basically a hard plastic piece to fit the end of the hose to) and makes it much easier to set up and take down more quickly. I’m still waiting for our not-nice / nosey neighbor to complain about smell but nothing so far. Maybe I can strategically do laundry at the same time I GF and use some scents that would disguise the smell. LOL
ah nevermind my above comment. I was typing too slow and you already answered my question. LOL
Camouflaging the vent won’t eliminate the odor of cutting acrylic.
I get no odor from my 35’ vent setup, but when I have the living room doors open on days like today (about 70’ away), I can smell what I’m cutting when the wind is right.
others have said it but i will repeat, an external fan, will deal with the noise issues. I had the neighbors ready to kill me before I made that change. No meat to our hoa but the neighbors were sending nasty emails. they stopped when the fan was installed.
But honestly, burning sugar on a stove smells is worst then acrylic. But honestly, what is an unpleasant smell is debatable.
I also have an external fan. It was the first purchase to accommodate her.
Doesn’t matter what you or I think. I printed some acrylic earlier without running any fan at all (I just couldn’t be bothered to tell Alexa to turn it on after I realized I had forgotten).
It matters what your nasty neighbor thinks, and if they can smell it, they will complain (it appears…)
Maybe he can mask the smell by also burning some marijuana at the same time. They shouldn’t be able to complain about that.
Well, that would be obviously not allowed in the building rules and a real reason to complain to me. but honestly, she has decided that I am the pain in her life and the sole reason she can’t sell her condo (deeply doubt it).
She even threaten me (to make me pay dearly) again in her latest complain because it smelled while I was at the same time venting wood cuts and painting. And I am sure it was the paint which really smelled. It was during the day on a Saturday.
But my sole existence seems to be a curse on her life and her selling her place. But I have yielded enough, threatening me will be met strongly and I am ready to fight, knowing I am in the right and she isn’t.
I know the type. Like talking to a brick wall. I hope for your sake she does find a buyer and they are more reasonable about their neighbors.
My neighbors mask the smell for me… (A whole different story) But hopefully that means they will leave me alone.
