Help with Inkscape?

Hi All,

I need help. I don’t know how to get rid of these cut lines between the frame and the letters. I want all that to be one piece, i.e. the letters sitting on the frame:

Thanks in advance.

Do the lines show up in Inkscape? And can you make them a different stroke color there?

You may also have to set a fill on the letters to get them to be an engrave if that’s what you want.

I think what you want to do is combine the text with the frame so it’s one solid piece? If that’s the case you need to combine them together. This tutorial might be what you are looking for. I don’t use inkscape, otherwise I’d walk you through it myself

@kittski’s right - you want to create the frame first by subtracting the center section out, then do a union to attach the letters to the inside of the frame.

Do the subtraction and union with filled shapes not zero fill stroke lines.

I believe I misunderstood the end intent, so I’ll stand by @kittski on this one

Yes that is what I needed, thank you.

Why filled? I want it to be a cut eventually?

Yup. That worked. Thanks guys.!

In answer to your question, the correct subtraction and union operations only work on fills. When you’re done, you set the fill to null and give it a stroke color.
