ok so now we just need a topic of all text and no images (pics, emojis, gifs, - none of it).
And maybe no punctuation just to really make it wacky.

Le monde est plein de choses nouvelles et différentes, c’est bien d’en apprendre davantage. Et jusqu’à ce que tu connaisses les mots, tu as toujours Google Traduction.

Ok because this is interesting

It’s really tin to dig into languages. I asked ChatGPT to tell me how to say hello in 50 different languages that are spoken in India and Pakistan:

  • Namaste (Hindi)
  • سلام (Urdu)
  • নমস্কার (Bengali)
  • નમસ્કાર (Gujarati)
  • ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ (Kannada)
  • ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ (Tulu)
  • നമസ്കാരം (Malayalam)
  • ਸਤ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ (Punjabi)
  • வணக்கம் (Tamil)
  • నమస్కారం (Telugu)
  • नमस्कार (Marathi)
  • नमस्कार (Nepali)
  • ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ (Konkani)
  • ꯊꯥꯎ (Meitei / Manipuri)
  • Nomoskar (Assamese)
  • Johar (Santali)
  • Aadab (Hyderabadi Urdu)
  • Khammaghani (Rajasthani)
  • Ram Ram (Haryanvi)
  • Namaskara (Odia)
  • As-salaam-alaikum (Pashto)
  • Helo (Balochi)
  • Sata Sri Akaal (Saraiki)
  • Salam (Sindhi)
  • Namaste (Magahi)
  • Johar (Ho)
  • Pranam (Maithili)
  • Namaskar (Chhattisgarhi)
  • Ram-Ram (Bhojpuri)
  • Assalamualaikum (Kashmiri)
  • Namaskar (Dogri)
  • Khodaye shoma ra rahmat (Dari)
  • Hello (English - Indian subcontinent variant)
  • Salaam (Persian - historically influential in region)
  • Namaskaram (Pali - liturgical usage)
  • As-salamu alaykum (Arabic - religious use)
  • Tashi Delek (Ladakhi)
  • Sat Sri Akal (Himachali)
  • Namaste (Sanskrit)
  • Namaskar (Tripuri)
  • Hi (English - urban/colloquial)
  • Salaam (Gilgiti)
  • Salaam (Wakhi)
  • Salaam (Brahui)
  • Namaskar (Bhili)
  • Namaskar (Gondi)
  • Salaam (Khowar)
  • Salaam (Kalasha)
  • Ram Ram (Bagheli)

It’s cool to see the words that are common between languages. You could spend many years digging into the history and etymology just studying this region alone.

I’ve thought about trying one of the new conversational language learning apps driven by AI, they supposedly give the “full immersion” experience by providing immediate conversation. That sounds like an amazing use of these new technologies.

URLs?

Yeah, but you need to know what languages those are to translate from! I did open the translate app on my iPhone and could read a couple of them!

Google has auto detect for languages. Gpt can recognize them too. The tech is so good now. Google translate has a conversation mode, and you can prompt gpt to actively translate between two people speaking different languages.

It’s a pretty crazy time with translations. I used google translate to help a French glowforger repair her red wire problem. She speaks no English and I barely speak any French. It was really no harder for me than helping someone in English. I was helping her talk to the electrician that she hired to do some of the tricky wiring parts and going back-and-forth. Even with this level of complexity and multiple people involved the translation app was perfect.

Consonants only, no vowels?

Not an endorsement, I haven’t tried any of these:

There are so many, that’s just a few of them.

Used Google Translate last week to help a family that only spoke Portuguese get help with a pending eviction. A little slower than usual, but it worked out. Wouldn’t have been able to help at all with out it so feeling good that app was here.

I used it to auto-translate signs at the Louvre so we knew what we were looking at and why it was important . :grinning:

Still amazed by the erratic use of bilingual signs there. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Didn’t appear to be any pattern.
