I didn’t bother trying to figure that out. As long as they’re opposite polarity, and as long as you label them consistently (if you make more than one tool), you’re okay. (The labels are ambiguous anyway. Does N mean north is up or north is down? It probably makes more sense to label them A and B.)

Could also just do a simple “+” or “-” like they have on regular AA and AAA batteries.
