Make a jig for your jig, and you’re in business, as @redshift says.
Depends. My standard jig stays in the machine all the time - whole sheets butt into the corner of the jig.
But non-standard jobs as being described where you need to put a physical object into a consistent location then you would make a jig for this, which you would use repeatedly for that exact job.
