Mandala: Island Fury

Not a shop vac but yes a vacuum. I manually take the big pieces out and save them to give to friends that have kids, and Hoover the rest. It’s a mess.

It’s lovely. I’m a big fan of that bright gold against the subtle blues

For this and your others, I just love the color you get from cardstock glued to wood. Just wonderful.

You’ve probably answered this elsewhere, but how many sheets of plywood are you typically using to make one of these?

Striking! What is the scale? About a foot?

8 layers. I get two layers per sheet of ply, so 4 bed-sized sheets.

9.25” diameter, so two layers will fit pretty comfortably on a single sheet.

You could probably build another configuration with the box of cut-outs!

Absolutely beautiful. I bought a couple of pads of coordinated color cardstock at Michael’s yesterday to try this myself.

AAahhhhh so you glue the cardstock on your wood before you cut it. Could you also please tell me which kind of masking tape you use, that would be so gentle on paper? TIA

This stuff

Thank you

I was just looking through their website they don’t have an option for a 300ft roll just 12 x 100 for $40.

I didn’t search but I bet it’s listed at 100
yards

Yeah yards is key, read it carefully. Some sketchy sellers will try to sell 100feet which is a ripoff.

Oh of course it is listed at 100 yards.

Thank you

This one is certainly my favorite so far! Perhaps it’s the colors, but I love the shape of this one. I finally bought a file that really appeals but I wanted to make it BIG but got frustrated trying to figure out where to put the cuts in order to hide them best. I would never have guessed that yours are under 12" - I would definitely stop and stare in awe!

There is a series of posts way back about big layered projects, maybe you can get ideas from them? Let’s see…

Ah here we go, @tmarsh86’s stuff.
