What masking tapes from a local store should be best used on multiple types of wood when using gf?

Honestly none. Buy online. Check #2.
If you’re super desperate to get local you can try a sign shop for this sort of thing. You want paper based transfer tape with medium tack.
I use this brand of masking tape for smaller projects
A store in my town sells a 6" wide version. Great for projects that fit under the width of the tape. Paper tape low tack.
and there’s a purple version “delicate surface” that has great tack but won’t leave residue on acrylic/ lift the grain of baltic birch too much!
