What is the covering called that we use to cover the wood/acrylic to remove after laser engraving (to remove to smoke residue).
Also, where can we get this?

Masking.
Many places online - art supply, sign making supply, amazon, etc.

The masking can also be called “vinyl transfer tape” because it’s used to apply vinyl stickers etc. It comes in a paper version that looks just like masking tape and a plastic version. So make sure you’re getting the paper stuff because the other one is dangerous to cut.

Very good point! I checked what I ordered in 2017 and that is what it was called, the word “masking” doesn’t even appear!
