Yes - it’s not the easiest thing, but it’s definitely doable.
In your GFUI
- Zoom in as close as you can
- Select the earring
- Click Ctl-Shift-g (this will ungroup everything)
- Select just the hole for the split ring
- Move/resize it to where you want it
- Drag a box over the whole earring
- Click Ctl-g (to regroup it)
- Click print to see if your edit worked!
If that doesn’t work, post which earring in particular and either I, or another 
user, might be able to provide more specific advice
