Norton White Tile Method

I would strongly suggest against using a 40-45W laser as a stool softener.

I’ve been trying this technique. I’ve been able to get a good contrast on the image, but I get streaks. I don’t see them in the source image. I’ve cleaned everything. Anyone have any ideas?

I get those as well, I think they are caused by inconsistency in the thickness of the glaze on the tile.

Oh, OK thanks. I wonder if there are tiles that have a more consistent glaze. I was just using leftover tiles from a bathroom remodel.

I wonder if it’s the glaze on the tile or inconsistent spray of the paint?

I’ve wondered that too. White paint on a white tile, it’s hard to tell. I can orientate them at a 45 degree angle when I paint them. That should help determine where the effect is coming from.

Those are too uniform to be paint - unless the tile is 24" tall and you used a mechanical jig to apply it.

Variations in glaze would explain why some tiles work well and some don’t.

Made an attempt at what I think was what @kanati used in his test above, Here. I have some areas that seem lighter and i think it is because i am not cleaning away all the paint or some other residue.

After some more agressive cleaning the cabin looks better i think. i used a microfiber cloth and solvent.

I think the print took ~6hrs the tile is 10cm x 30cm

Yar thx  really happy with how it turned out

This was my last test using the vary power settings, if you don’t like spiders don’t click on this one hehe.

Here is my photo, it is of a brown recluse spider at my parents house.

Pre-application of large shoe? If I ran across a recluse it would look like this:

Yeah they didn’t last long after the photo, they are a bit to dangerous to have around 13 of them hanging out below and above the patio door outback. makes me itchy thinking about it.

Love it! I have, somewhere on one of my hard drives, a lot of spider pictures I took with a macro lens. They really are fascinating creatures. One in particular had the most amazing body armor with huge spikes sticking out everywhere. I f I come across those someday I may print one off.

Would love to see that once it is done

Of necessity I think the time is both needed and well spent to get the best look. folk don’t think twice about a 20 hour 3D print but are so used to 5 minute cuts they think 6 hours for an engrave is too much.
