So, you might think this, but it’s been stated that the position and order of the jobs being run (as in the traveling salesman problem) saves a surprisingly little amount of time. What nesting software might save is prep time. Rather than placing your pieces by hand, nesting software might be a good time saver. Ymmv, but I don’t think using deepnest has really taken off in the GF community, probably because it’s not quite as useful or reliable as you’d like. Others may chime in and prove me…

but I have a similar memory to @geek2nurse of reading a post where someone tested a bunch of things and saved maybe 1-2% of the time…not worth it IMO unless you’re planning on cutting the same giant sheet a bunch of times.
