My wife might get upset if I allow the glowforge to sleep in bed with us also lol.
I can now tell you from personal experience that my cat thinks the Glowforge is a vacuum cleaner. He is curious to examine it when it is not running, but vanishes as soon as I turn it on.

I think about what is going through my dodâs head with the vacuum, as far as he knows, I tie it to the wall and it eats everything on the floor! With an attitude!
Ok. This is getting real. I pulled out all my guitars, amps, music stands, music books, violins and clarinets. The downstairs office is now totally being devoted to the Glowforge at my house. I have a big bedroom so the music will all work there.
Itâs very nice. Here is electronics desk. Stay tuned for some project pics.
Here is the area the Glowforge will be installed.
Aperture adjusted for outside view. It overlooks a golf course.
Like the carpet and window views.
My area is in need of major cleanup and remodel.
Here is the corner that has to be cleaned out:
and

Once it is cleaned out, I have to removed the storage deck:
and put above Glowieâs home shelving up high ( 9â6" ceiling - converted 1 car garage)
Now to figure out how to get rid of the junk. The old hard drives are going to be the aluminum to feed a small forge. Not sure what to make with it but âThe King of Randomâ is inspiring me.
Each day i get closer to getting my laser I realize just a little more how much i need more spaceâŚ
All the sensible places to put my GF involve at least one flight of stairs. so I am trying not to think about it. Also, at one of those places the exhaust would be either on the main street or over the sheriffâs department parking lot, so the paperwork really ought to be in order first.
Thanks for posting it in the raw. There are lots and of cool things to see and play with. Good luck.
I can feel your excitement shining through those photos. I understand just how you must be feeling.
Donât forget that there are some great magnets in your old hard drives that can be used to hold things down in your new Glowforge.
Oh yeah!, I had several magnets out of them and the work really well.
One major drawback is in they are match sizes and get mated to the other one, it takes a lot of effort to separate them. You have to find an aluminum blade to between them for a finger hold.
My workshop has been overtaken as material storage while I finish my basement. Nearly done with the basement finishing, hopefully just a couple of weeks left, but until itâs finished I canât rebuild the shelves and workbench that I tore out to make room to hold everything (floor boards, tile, etc). On the plus side I used the finishing time to run a vent line out alongside the shower fan exhaust, so I wonât have to mess with the air filter or opening a window in Minnesota winters.
Since Iâm basically starting the workshop from scratch Iâm looking in to better ways to arrange things. Itâs not a big room - 7â x 13â - but itâs enough and I can set it up however I want. Hopefully I can come up with a good plan soon, once my energy isnât focused on finishing the basement and building a desk for my office.
I might have too much on my plate.
Eck, just did a audit of all my outlets and breakers⌠The guy that wired this place was a idiot
The gf canât go where I wanted it in the computer room because he ran that bed room half the other and the hall and bathroom all on one circuit
So thinking maybe circuit d that is in half the med room and family room or circuit b for a in the kitchen
so given the kitchen has two 20 amps circuits best possibility for use in there however I did this quick render (you will have to see my show and tell for kitchen re model) on the other side of the working wall Iâm building a eating area. this is what the top of the area would look like in white is the GF with air filter, center is my truffle molds box (also in show and tell) and to the right is a microwave (still undecided if Iâm going to make a shelf and put this on top of the oven.
so in the kitchen does not seem practical in front of the GF is only 12.25 inches to the edge and that is not counting the 4 inch elbow to the air filter so really 8 inches from GF to edge so that would make eating there
its really looking like circuit D is the way I will have to go despite the math not working out (it only has 9.5amp avail)

Had a similar issue with the wiring in our 1970 home.
I had installed a sub-panel next to the main house 125 amp service panel. Because I need separate additional circuits for servers, computers and other equipment, I ran alternating circuits to outlets before converting the one car garage to an office and work area.
One thing that happened was that breakers wonât trip on old circuit randomly. Finally got an clamping loop amp meter and discovered that the load across the service leads (120 volt per lead) was way out of balance (like 1/3 on one leg and 2/3âs on the other). That was just without things like oven, microwave, washer and dryer and furnace running.
I moved circuits to different breakers until the load was even across the 240 (120/120 legs) was close to even. I then turned on the oven, washer and dryer, furnace and microwave to verify that the loads stayed roughly even. Had to move the microwave circuit, but other than that, power demands stayed balanced.
With 3 active servers, 7 desktops, 3 printers and various wireless and networking equipment running, my monthly power billing gets rated as the top 98% - 99% usage rating for my neighborhood.
Every month the power company sends out a nanny state report comparing my power consumption to the average in my neighborhood versus an âenergy-wiseâ household on a graph to has my usage at the top of the graph.
There has to be a pot grower in my neighborhood, because only a couple of years ago, I was the top consumer of electricity.
Funny Iâve always done the same thing but in 2D (Visio). I guess I never considered doing it in 3D because height never mattered to me. It was all about the x,y placement of a piece of furniture.
PFI a report like this ?
at 227kwh I have no clue what those people are doing 1 candle light by a window and thatâs about it
Do you live in a town with seasonal owners?
Your report looks exactly like mine. Must be a Federal requirement.
no, that makes it even more strange I donât think they are using my condo complex (mostly very old people assumption not much tech) I assume they use the zip code. then again for all we know that 227 was just the lowest person and they just make the statistic look like whatever they want
We have the same reporting companyâŚ
On the backside of the 1 page report, they give me the 12 month history.
I FEEL GOOD looking down on the âlittle peopleâ usage
(/saracasm)
We used to receive the same notices about our heavy use. Kind of funny, considering they are in the business of selling electricity. We went solar almost a year ago and are now producing 110% of our energy needs. I was looking forward to how they would show us now, but we no longer receive the notices.
