hahahaha. i wear glasses about 50% of the time now, but i always forgot about my contacts when i wore them full time and likewise went through the same realization.

correct on both counts, though i’m suspicious that a mere 10 minutes is going to do much beyond the first couple of millimetres. onions are full of sulfur compounds, which is why they’re spicy. the compounds hit your eyeball and ow.

I swear I my eyes have adjusted to the ph of onions, or I’m getting older. It just doesn’t happen any more. Part of it is the way I cut the onion. The open surfaces are contained in the cut until I sweep it off the cutting board. Sharp knife and I don’t stick my face down.

To quote the elderly lady at the table next to us in a restaurant in NW Missouri, “those onions were so strong they could nearly walk.” I rarely notice anything cutting onions, unless I do a lot, or every once in a while one so strong it could nearly walk jumps on the cutting board.
