Repair - Wiregrass Technologies

Yeah, that’s pretty much how partnerships like that work. We talk about each other, but we’re independent companies.

Yeah I don’t think so. At least not what I’m talking about, when you shipped the machine to Glowforge they had a third-party company that would do the repairs for them. It doesn’t appear that Wiregrass is doing that for Glowforge at this time or at least it has not been announced.

That’s what I’m talking about when I say partnership.

That’s a very different kind of partnership as it was “invisible” to the end user (we had no say in who did the work, or where it was done since we shipped it “to Glowforge”).

This is more of a marketing style where we talk each other up and share back-end data, but to the end user we’re entirely separate.

I’m completely happy with the work Wiregrass did on my Glowforge Pro.

When I was discussing the issue with customer support, they directed me there:

“We can recommend Wiregrass, a Glowforge service partner, to repair your machine. You can contact them for information on timing, availability, and pricing.”

And the Help Center directs owners there as well:

The REASON I moved on, was because I had orders to fill.

Dealing with settings issues that were glowforge’s fault, the UI being unavailable because the servers were down, having your tried and true settings suddenly not work because Glowforge changed them overnight, and did not tell anyone. Having my machine down for weeks while support would email me back at totally random times of day, morning and late evening… None of this is a way for a Glowforge user to be able to run their business. Glowforge makes changes, but take ZERO responsibility for the ramifications.

I bought my new laser while waiting for the Refurb to arrive. I used that for only a few cuts, and sold it.
4 Years, ZERO regrets, ZERO issues with the new laser. (And, it’d not even one of the big $8000-$20,000 machines all the laser influencers push. Today, my machine would cost $4000 SHIPPED from China. … wall, tariffs may have just changed that)

But, Just because I have moved on, does not mean I can not point out a crappy company and crappy situation when pushed to me. As long as Glowforge wants to screw their customers, then send me emails about it, I will comment on that. If they are not interested in my feedback, they can stop emailing me.

You know gf staff doesn’t read this right?

You’re basically just talking to other users. Telling everyone here that Glowforge is “crappy” doesn’t seem too productive.

I am glad you have no regrets and are happy doing whatever you do. I am sorry you felt the need to walk into our community and spread your disdain for a product your haven’t used in years. It certainly doesn’t seem necessary.

JUST LOOK AT HOW HAPPY I AM!!! I AM SO HAPPY!! AND PRETTY!!!

 yeah a bunch of GF choices suck. Choosing a hobby machine to do professional work…also sucky. You grew and moved on. *checks notes…your business load grew and you’re still around…cool. Can you stop harassing the other customers?

Yell at GF by using the support email.

Amen! Two of the best features Discourse implemented were mute and ignore.

I wish people would stop saying that as it suggests the buyer is somehow responsible for making a bad decision. On the contrary, Glowforge encourages the use of their machines in a commercial context. They specifically target startups and small entrepreneurs. Their entire ecosystem is designed for the commercial crafty market. It’s not the fault of the buyer that they bought into that marketing message and find the GF is not as well suited to the small business person as the marketing suggests.

….fine. I won’t suggest it.

I wish i could find somewhere to.repair my machine in the United Kingdom

I have had NO luck and countless emails back and forth to Glowforge with my machine NOT firing anymore & been out of working order since Feb.

This is a now a refurbished unit, as we had the same issue last year, and was sent a “reburbished” machine. I originally machine had to have been sent to someone in the UK to repair, and our refurbished unit wouldve had to have come from a UK company.

But Glowforge wont disclose who it is. So i have literlly just handed them £7000 for nothing.

Very upset, and really want to get my machine repaired & working again, but Glowforge just DONT CARE

That’s unfortunate, but has nothing to do with Wiregrass - which has nothing but stellar reviews.

There are plenty of other threads where people voice their (sometimes justified) dissatisfaction with Glowforge.

I once helped a glowforger from France figure out how to fix her machine: she hired a local electrician/electronics repair tech to do a red wire replacement and her Glowforge fired back to life. They even came to her house to do it.

If you want to pursue this, here’s a video on how to do it:

It’s not a guarantee that you have a short in your wiring but it is a likely cause.
