It can work great, you just have to account for the blackening edges when you work the piece. Vacuum the surface of the leather and rinse it with plain water to get most of the carbon out.

I’m out of likes, but think it’s beautiful!
Did some tooling back in 8th grade. We had a fabulous art teacher that did an after school program. Really enjoyed it.
