To share or not to share?

You don’t know until you know, right?

Everyone is going to have a first time to learn a new bit of information. The lack of home ec and woodshop is leaving our kids missing some basic life skills. And they don’t all have someone to pass that info on at home.

I’m a big believer is the saying that a rising tide lifts all boats. Obviously, there are times and around certain people that you cannot share information, because they will just rip you off.

It’s a very effective type of marketing…content marketing. Create value by creating content that means something to people, and give it away for free. That builds trust and you can become somewhat of an authority or trusted source, and people are willing to come to you for other things.

If this person would take the effort away from telling others how they should run their businesses, and put it into her own business, she wouldn’t need to go around telling others how to do things.

You can share techniques and processes, but you can’t share creativity, business savvy, or the shear amount of work and effort that goes into them. The business end is by far the toughest part for most creatives to get hold of.

When you share with others, they are willing to share with you in return, so you benefit just as much.

Besides that, just because someone knows how to do something doesn’t mean they’re actually any good at it!
