That Ganson sculpture is wonderful. We take our middle school engineering students, who have worked with Lego gearing for both speed and torque applications, to see it at MIT’s museum. He uses worm gears so the reduction is so big that the axle in the concrete would do one turn every few billion years. It is a mechanical paradox!
