100 watt Chinese Laser

Good to hear! Thanks for the info

Although I think I’ll still stick with the GF for practicality reasons. The ones I linked are to big for a first laser cutter

Good luck on your Ed.D. I am done in 12 more days!!! It was definitely a challenge, but worth it in the end. Get familiar with APA formatting. It has changed since my last degree and may have changed since you finished. Citation machine is a good source for APA. It seems like the professors care less about content and more about APA formatting. This was something I definitely didn’t breeze through. I didn’t think it would take this much of my life for a year.

Hi guys. I don’t know how much longer I will have access to the forum. I cancelled my order.

I think GF is a great idea and I would back Dan on any other project. His contact with customers and passion for the product are second to none. Dan is a man who knows how to run a business. Honestly, Dan if you read this, I really do appreciate how well you are running this venture and I appreciate your vision. It is visions like your’s that spur growth and advancements in technology. You are setting the bar in this industry and those early adopters, who have good experiences with their product, are the greatest asset to a growing company. You are treating these early adopters right.

Cancelling my order was very hard. I actually started considering it before I purchased the laser I have. There have been growing pains with the laser I bought, that I don’t think I would have experienced with a GF, but I knew that going in.

Best wishes to everyone on here and I’m sorry I couldn’t stay. I have met some great people through here with whom I will stay in contact. I will be excited to get to see a GF in action.

Brian - good luck. The more you play with other lasers, the less it seems to make the GF a “must have”. I’m still hanging in there but do have to admit to considering going to the dark side  (bigger, badder Chinese laser)

Have fun with yours and try to find a way to incorporate it into your work so you have more incentive to master the software and the technology.

Thanks James. That’s my plan. My biggest obstacle is mastering Adobe Illustrator, but in two weeks I can devote more time to it. I bought a Surface Pro 4 to use with Illustrator. I love it! I’m a Mac guy, but the SP4 with AI is a great combination.

I am having some trouble with the laser I bought, but it’s not the fault of the laser manufacturer. The chiller, a CW-3000, is causing a black material to spread throughout the tube and cooling system. The laser company is going to replace the chiller, laser tube, and associated plumbing. So far they are standing behind their product. The chiller isn’t their product, but it was sold as a package.

Great combo. I have a Surface 3 (the new non-Pro version) for my laser work. I prefer the form factor to the Pro (which I have as a work desktop). Now I just have to find the 100 watter ebay vendor you used and see what my options are

I bought mine through Alibaba.com from Unich CNC. I would shop around though and get the best price.

Most businesses I have worked with through Alibaba take customer service to all new levels.

I believe that getting a bad review on there is MUCH more of an impact than it is on Amazon, because they have bent over backwards for me numerous times, but continue to mention their hope that “this will lead to a good review” or that I will resolve things without submitting a claim/return via the website (got 2 free 60W tubes just so I wouldn’t submit a claim when one of mine arrived broken)

Oh bugger…I was hoping to ask to “hang out” with you after your GF came in…lol. You being local and all…:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I know it was a hard decision and hope the new laser works out for you.
Dont forget, though…I’m still just down the street if you ever need help with file and design issues.

Maybe we need a forum for those of us that have “turned to the dark side”. I’m still here but feel a little uncomfortable interacting with the group since I’ve given up my position in the queue and that an incredibly large wooden crate arrived on my doorstep today.

Then again, maybe I have no shame…lol :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

There’s always that Facebook group…

The Google+ K40 group is better. They don’t spend anytime bashing - more interested in what they can get working and cool stuff they do. Facebook folks seem to have an axe to grind.

Pour yourself a cup of your favorite beverage and sit down for a chat with Russ at SabarMultimedia reviewing his past year of owning a Chinese laser. Very informative. It has helped keep the twitch at bay of ordering one for me.

Should have used the “tongue in cheek” emoji. Good to know about the Google+ group though.

Sharing his journey of discovery and understanding has made a fan of me. I think I have seen most of them.

So you are going to shun me now? :disappointed: Just kidding. I hope we can get together. Life has been insane lately with the kids starting back to school, my studies, etc. I’m sorry we can’t be GF buddies, but maybe we can still be laser buddies.

I went ahead and started a G+ group for larger lasers. I am looking forward to modding mine. I want to change the controller, cooling system, fan, and more. I hope I can get some members so we can share our experiences.
