Fair enough. I was mainly just trying to reverse-engineer 805LaserSpot’s methods, because people following his instructions apparently have an amazingly high success rate.
Too late!
Yeah that is a good point. Dithering probably can be more consistent across a range of materials and settings.
Here is a ChatGPT Prompt that gave amazing results from the process Purplie listed (well done and thank you) -
Can you use the bas relief image (previously created in the chat) and complete the following tasks so I can laser cut step seven on my glowforge hd - Get your 1024x1024 image from ChatGPT
Use the AI upscaler of your choice to upscale it 4x Convert to grayscale
Apply an unsharp mask, radius 20, to enhance edges.
Make a “levels” or “curves” adjustment to widen its dynamic range so that it contains both full black and full white.
Apply the dithering (we’ll have to figure out where to get that style of dithering.)
Scale it at 540dpi. (For a 4000x4000 image, this makes it around 7.4 inches).
Engrave with the above settings.
This is my second attempt at this type of work and the first with ChatGPT on cardboard
Yes, but a ChatGPT generated picture. I was in a hurry before my classes today.
Best,
Charles
Hi! These are incredible! I’m curious about the material that was used. I like the “soft” look. Really amazing.
EDIT; Just saw the material, not sure how I missed it. Many thanks on this tutorial! Got me excited about creating these for my own graphite artwork.
Oh, you mean you asked ChatGPT to visualize the result of all the steps? Cool.
Purple,
Correct, sorry I was not clear. ChatGPT did steps 2-7 from your instructions with the one prompt I listed in my post. I then downloaded the png that ChatGPT created, uploaded it to the Glowforge, resulting in the image I posted.
Again thank you for your instructions.
Blessings,
Charles
Exactly! And this seems sooo above my head
For me, it took some time to process it. It makes more sense to me now. But I’ve been working on some art, and shading and making things look 3D so that helped me wrap my brain around it.
