2025 Superbowl Commercials (not Glowforge related)

I wasn’t expecting to cry during the Superbowl, but I just saw this a few min ago and :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: (I have a kid who had childhood cancer and finished tx 5 years ago)

(I would never have expected my fav SB commercial to be a big pharma commercial)

We did end up watching the game, and that commercial was one of the best ones they had. On another note, the halftime show was the worst I’ve ever watched. We muted it and I played on my phone.

What was bad about it in particular?

my take: other than the neat trick of the endless supply of people exiting the car the rest was cold tea. the music seemed within a very narrow genre and lacked the sort of energy one would expect in a half time show not a lot of star power. I am not sure whad Sam Jackson was doing and when they started singing about turning off the tv, I was glad to oblige. I missed left shark.

I haven’t seen it, but

made me LOL because they went with a single artist because there were complaints after recent years had multitudes.

It’s proof you cannot make everyone happy

For me it was just too hard to understand what he was saying, too confused about what was supposed to be happening in the background, etc… I mean, I’m sure it was great for the younger generation, but I couldn’t help wonder how many of that generation can afford to go to the game and watch it in person, as compared to the age that is actually there and have to sit through it. I know all of the shows for years have definitely been geared to the younger crowd, but don’t forget us older folks as well. I’d just as soon watch the cheerleaders doing their dance routines as watch the new shows.

Younger generation and beyond. I think you may underestimate how big Kendrick Lamar is.

He even has a Pulitzer Prize.

He belonged on that stage. One of the most successful and creatively gifted talents in music. as for his message and what was happening, there are detailed articles that talk about it if you’re curious. The performance was one of the most meaningful in Super Bowl halftime history.

Thanks for writing this up. A lot of people did not get the importance of his performance.

I’d never heard of him, as I only listen to Christian/Southern Gospel music, and what we see when we watch The Masked Singer or American Idol. :joy: So thanks for the story links. I do appreciate it.

Agree wholeheartedly. I thought he did exactly what he set out to do. I get it if you don’t like, or can’t understand the music. But you’d have the same thing if Bob Dylan or Metallica were the performers. Some music just isn’t for some people. I just liked the messages he sent.
